Kanetix.ca and Tree Canada challenge Canadians to reduce their carbon footprint
Kanetix to plant more than 1200 trees with Tree Canada following month long campaign
TORONTO, June 13, 2012 - Online quote comparison website Kanetix.ca will be donating more than 1200 trees to Tree Canada, a national nonprofit environmental organization, as a result of a month long promotion to help reduce carbon emissions.
Launched on April 2, the campaign ran for a total of four weeks. During those four weeks, every time a car insurance shopper obtained quotes and connected with an insurer through Kanetix, a tree-- as well as the necessary funds required to plant and maintain it--was earmarked for donation to Tree Canada.
"We are honoured to have teamed up with Tree Canada on this campaign," said Janine White, Vice-President, Marketplace for Kanetix.ca. "This initiative offered our customers the opportunity to save money on their car insurance, while highlighting the importance of lessening our carbon footprint."
Given the relationship between transportation and environment, the partnership also sought to remind drivers to reduce their carbon footprint where possible by considering alternative means of transportation such as carpooling, cycling, and taking advantage of public transit as opposed to driving daily.
The more than 1200 trees provided by Tree Canada will be planted in Ontario and Quebec, as well as the regions of Atlantic Canada and the Prairies.
The donation program was open to Canadian motorists in Ontario, Alberta, Quebec, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick - everywhere Kanetix currently offers their car insurance comparison service.
Tree Canada is a nonprofit, charitable organization providing education, technical assistance, resources and financial support to encourage Canadians to plant and care for trees in rural and urban areas.
