The city of Kingston is located at the eastern end of Lake Ontario in Ontario, Canada, and is the spot where the Thousand Islands begin in the St. Lawrence River. At the end of the 18th century, Molly Brant, sister of Joseph Brant (known for founding Brantford) helped to expand the population of the area by bringing Mohawks from Six Nations in New York, to settle here.

Kingston, as it later became known as, was the base for the Great Lakes British Naval Fleet during the war of 1812 with America. After the war, the British built Fort Henry to protect the Rideau Canal from invasion and this fort is a popular tourist attraction to this day. Canada's first Prime Minister called Kingston home - Sir John A. Macdonald.
